My classes are going great, I enjoy all of them and I am meeting lots of new people, but I never realized how busy I was until I checked my blog. I haven't posted in a long time, and I thought I would take the time to catch you up.
I have been studying the past week for my exams this week, I have three. Which wouldn't seem like that much, but for me they let me know how I'm really doing in the classes. These are the first ones this semester. I have been spending so much time reading for my Intro to Literature class, and then reviewing material for the other three classes. Its helping me a lot though. All of it will pay off this week though, I have a good feeling. Last week I had a Biology quiz and it required a lot of memorization, but I did awesome on it. I was really excited. I am loving my College Reading and Writing class, we are writing a paper, on our majors. We are required to conduct an interview, for our paper, on a person who is in our profession. I already shadow for a pediatric surgeon in des moines, and I was sure he would answer a few questions for me. But I wanted to get another interview from a person who is going through what they say is the hardest part, applying to medical school. So I contacted my adcademic advisor, and she got me in touch with a fourth year student. Learning their experiences and struggles is only going to help me more in the future.
Okay...school is what I'm here for and it pretty much takes up all my time, but thats not the only thing I do. My roommate and I finally moved my room around...which took entirely too long. The hardest part was pulling the ladder off my bed, we only had cheap screw drivers, and my 17 year old brother is the one who put them in with a screw gun. It took almost and hour and half..ugh..but we like our room a lot now..it seems like there is more room..if thats possible..I also have of course been running...how else would I be able to deal with the craziness? I only have 2 months left until my race...I'm not gonna lie..I'm really pumped..I love to race, and go fast. I am a little bit of a thrill seeker...I have been watching movies with friends..but we are all so busy..we don't have nearly enough time. My family back home has kept themselves busy as well..in one week we had 2 car accidents, (everyone was okay, except the cars) and my entire household managed to lock themselves out..I don't know how they did it...
Today I had a really pleasant surprise when I opened my email, and saw an email from my high school track coach. He graduated from UNI, and really encouraged me to come up here. I was really touched by what he said...It made me feel really good. I know he'll probably read this and laugh..but it meant a lot. Its nice to know that people are thinking of you.
