Adventures of a College SophomoreJanuary 14, 2008I'm Back and Hopefully HealthyLast semester didn't end on a good note, but this semester is starting up nicely! I am excited to see how it all turns out! Last semester ended in the worst way possible, with trips to the hospital! Thank goodness that is all over! Over the break I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and my tonsils removed as they were both the cause of all my problems. Mainly my tonsils, as the surgeon put it, "Were going to continue to make me sick, and if I didn't have them removed I could be in the hospital for a long time." So unfortuately my break was spent at plenty of doctors offices, and the hospital. I was so glad I was home through it all. Even though I would like to pretend like I am a tough girl, when I am sick, all I want to do is be home with my family and especially my mom. Oh and if anyone else plans on getting your tonsils out soon, don't plan on feeling well for at least 10 days after surgery! You never realize how important your throat, mouth and teeth are until you lose your teeth, and you can barely swallow. I lost a lot of weight just from living off jello, and yogurt. The worst part was they thought I was going to be able to eat ice cream, but it burned my throat, and tasted HORRIBLE. So I lived off pain killers, and couldn't leave the house. Which might sound good to most people, but I am the person who can't stay home for even one day. My mom said she was so surprised that I didn't go crazy that finally she took me out of the house to get school supplies. Holidays were amazing, it was great to see my family, and spend time with loved ones. I hated saying goodbye to some of them, but I loved being able to see everyone. I am ready to get back into everything again. I love to learn new things and especially when it comes to humans and their enviornment. I am taking some really hard classes this semester so I kept a low amount of credits to help balance that out. As with Organic, and Anatomy in the same semester some people think I'm crazy, but I am up for the challenge. I am really excited about Anatomy. I took a class in high school that did a semester of A&P and it truely solidified my decision to go into the health field. I am a nerd and think it is cool to know all the parts of the body, which I guess is kind of important if you are going to be telling people what is wrong with them. And chemistry is not my favorite, but I am determined and I want to learn Organic.
