May 7, 2009The BitesPosted by KellyWell, this week started off a little rough for me. On Monday I came down with a nasty cold. (It must have been from all the fresh air I got at the Beach!) I knew it wasn’t the H1N1 flu since I didn’t have the typically flu like symptoms, so I wasn’t concerned. I was a little worried how my coworkers would react when I came to work sneezing, sniffling, and coughing. (The news programs have put a lot of fear into everyone about the H1N1 flu.) No one said anything or had me quarantined, so I was thankful. And, after a few nights of 12+ hours of sleep I was back to my old self. Again, things were good until the warm weather decided to bring out the mosquitoes. I never can see or spot the mosquitoes, but I know they are flying around trying to find me and my precious blood. I currently am sporting a new look of MASSIVE bug bites on my face, neck, and arms. No, these are not the typical bites, but the bites of evil mosquitoes that only want to see me suffer. The bites are very red, very swollen, the size of Texas, and EXTREMELY itchy! I know the best way to get rid of the bites is to not itch, but that is close to impossible. It takes so much energy and will power not to scratch my skin till it falls off. These bites can even wake me up out of a dead sleep needing to be scratched. My friend Sophia took pity on me and helped me find some traditional Chinese medicine to relieve the itchiness. The medicine is in a spray form and smells similar to Vick’s vapor rub. It usually helps for an hour or so. Hopefully things will start to improve throughout the weekend. After this week I have a new appreciation for my coworkers. They have graciously put up with my flu-like symptoms and scary-looking MASSIVE red bites on my body. They are truly one-of-a-kind team! |
