The software that runs the Rod Library catalog, also known as UNISTAR, is going to be moved to a new and more powerful server the weekend of Sept. 27-28. During the migration the web interface to the catalog will be unavailable, but checking out books and non-electronic reserve items will be possible at the respective service desks. However, users should determine the call numbers of any items they might need over the weekend before the migration starts.
Apart from UNISTAR, the migration will not affect the online research databases available through Panther Prowler. However, remote access to databases from off campus will be affected because the authentication of users takes place through the catalog system.
The UNI Respondus license expired in conjunction with the new academic year. To make your copy of Respondus functional again you will need to obtain the new installation password which is available from the ITS - Restricted Software Download Site using your CatID.
The Turnitin Powerlink within the Blackboard/WebCT learning management system is not correctly authenticating to the Turnitin service. Until this issue is resolved instructors are encouraged to submit papers electronically directly to the Turnitin website. A new support case has been opened with Turnitin, LLC to resolve this issue.
The Chat Tool is generating intermittent error messages that indicate, "The Chat Tool is currently unavailable" followed by "Session has expired. Close the program and log in again." Closing the Blackboard application and logging into the system again generally resolves the issues. Blackboard Support has been notified about this situation.
The Blackboard/WebCT learning management and electronic portfolio system will be restarted Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 6:00 a.m. to correctly configure the Turnitin Powerlink and restablish connectivity with the Turnitin service. The system be available by 7:00 a.m.

The Chat tool is working again as of 2:30 PM, Tuesday, Septetmber 2, 2008.
The Chat tool did not start properly after the 8/30 Saturday morning maintenance. The Chat service is currently being diagnosed and should be running again before Wednesday morning.
The Blackboard/WebCT system maintenance is complete and the application is now running on a 2-node cluster.
