Shake it Off
I'm with Donald Trump and Rush Limbaugh on this one. Shaking hands is a really stupid custom. Somebody just sneezed or coughed into their hand and now I'm supposed to grab hold of it and smile. The funny thing is, we usually don't shake hands with the people we know the best. It's primarily strangers that our culture makes us reach out and exchange germs with. I say let's drop this silly hand-squeezing ritual and do something else. The Japanese bow is a much better idea, hands down.

Boy do I agree. And don't forget the people who want to shake your hand when you are eating. It is rude enough that you are their "captive" as you are sitting down with hot food in front of you and they are standing too close, usually blocking your ability to either move your chair or the nearest exit. Then they insist on talking on and on while the temperature of your food goes from wonderful to iced mush. I think a simple wave and hi across the room is more appropriate that can be answered by a hand signal.Perhaps a returned hand waving means come on over and interrupt my meal while two fingers waving means glad to see you, talk to you later. And one finger waving, means don't even think about it. Humm...lets just be careful what finger we use.
