1500 movies

I have now managed to rate 1500 movies on IMDb. I saw Paparazzi the other night. It wasn't a bad movie... though it wasn't a great movie either. I suspect that I'll be watching Stealth sometime this weekend. I think I'll be trying to go in with rather low expectations, just hoping for at least a little bit of plot with good visual effects and explosions.

One thing that I would like to know though... IMDb has a special rating area for each movie for the average rating given by the Top 1000 voters on IMDb. Just how many movies does one have to rate to become part of the Top 1000 raters, and is one notified if you make this "elite group" anyway? 1500 movies seems like a lot to me, but since IMDb is a world-wide database, it is less movies than what comes out in a single year. I think I still have a ways to go...

1500 movies? Holy cow, that's a lot! What is the URL to see the list of all movies rated by you?

Hmmm, I guess I didn't link too it in the story, did I? My movie list is accessable from the main page, as well as here (assuming this weblink works!)

The answer to your question is that you won't know if you're a top 1000 IMDB voter and IMDB won't divulge how many votes it would take to break into the top 1000. Go to IMDB's "frequently asked questions" link (http://www.imdb.com/FAQ.html#User%20comments%20and%20ratings2) and see question 10.3, which is "Who are the Top 1000 voters? How do I know if I'm one of them?"
Their reply is:
The top 1000 voters consist of the 1000 people who have voted for the most titles in our ratings poll. We don't disclose the number of votes required for a person to make this list nor can we confirm or deny whether you are on it, sorry.

Thanks for the info! I guess it pays to read the FAQ's sometimes! ;-)
