From the Sand to the Snow

A little bit about myself

I am an international student at UNI from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Everybody has a “reason” or an incentive to be in America. There are different reasons for someone to leave their home country, family, friends and culture to explore a new territory and overcome the daily obstacles imposed by this new culture. I can start when I was a high school exchange student in Texas in my senior year. I stayed in Sinton for a year and I can say that I had the time of my life. I stayed with a wonderful host family and I really felt part of the family. It is also worthwhile to mention that I had an American boyfriend who had something to do with my wish of coming back and pursuing my undergrad program in America. I have 4 sisters and 2 of them are here in UNI doing Masters in TESOL and MBA. I am currently a senior double majoring in Public Relations and Economics.

From Brazil to Iowa

Claudia is a senior majoring in both Public Relations and Economics. Two of her sisters have joined her at UNI. Claudia works in the International Services Office, and also was an active officer in International Student Association and intramural sports. She loves horseback riding, table tennis and cheering for the Panthers.
