ITS Communications Corner Announcements

A summary from Authorize.Net follows on the events and follow-up of the fire at their data center. This impacted online applications for UNI that provide a pay-by-credit card option and have been set up through the Data Access Team.

On July 7, beginning at 6:30am, ITS - Network Services will make a series of configuration changes and updates to the UNI web cluster (sunny) that hosts www.uni.edu and several other domains. No downtime is expected during this maintenance, however there is the possibility that the changes could affect some PHP or CGI based functionality. Please report any changes in behavior of web sites hosted on the cluster to Peter Thompson-Yezek.

The University Electronic Directory (aka Phonebook) will be restarted at noon today to correct an issue preventing the page from rendering correctly.

Phonebook functionality is not effected by this issue.

The loader for the financial reporting system was inadvertently run around noon and as a result the financial reports are coming up blank. Unfortunately this process takes quite a few hours to run and will complete around 6pm. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will ensure that the data is refreshed tonight with todays data and is ready bright and early in the morning tomorrow.

Attempts to run reports before 6pm will result in either blank reports or partial reports.

The load of the MEMFIS financial data completed around 6:30PM this evening and was successful. MEMFIS Financial Reporting is now available.

Due to hardware changes related to preparing for the new student system, all oracle based systems will be down Saturday 07/25/2009 from 7am - 10am, with the exception email will be down from 5AM to 10AM.

Folks in ITT reported this morning of an inability to connect to UNI-Wireless, WiFi-UNI (no prompt to authenticate) or to the Guest system. This problem didn't span the entire campus, as other access points were functioning normally.

The problem in ITT was resolved with the power cycling of one our of radio/access-point controllers around 8:48am. Contact Chris Conklin if you experience additional problems.

Due to hardware changes related to preparing for the new student system, all Oracle-based systems will be down Saturday 07/25/2009 from 7AM - 10AM. Email will be down from 3AM to 10AM rather than beginning at 5AM as previously announced.

The Blackboard/WebCT learning management and electronic portfolio system will be restarted Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 6:00 a.m. to renew the system license key. The system will be available by 7:00 a.m.
