ITS Communications Corner Announcements

Email and CatID will be shut down for operating system and application patches, specifically to fix web based email client problems with regard to email attachments and timeout errors.
This will take a period of one hour Friday, August 7, starting at 10pm.

The Blackboard/WebCT learning management and electronic portfolio system will be shutdown Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 6:00 a.m. to install an application service pack. The system will be available by 10:00 a.m.

Due to a bug in the file system our production database server must be restarted to get the production portal database back. This is going to be done at 3:30pm today. This will impact MEMFIS, WebCT, MyUNIverse, and web based reporting.

All databases are expected to be back by 4pm. A follow up email will be sent when this has been taken care of.

The root cause of this issue is the power outage in Gilchrist Hall over the weekend.

We are actively working with Sun on a permanent fix for this issue.

All impacted databases are now up and their corresponding web/application servers can now be restarted.

Due to the Physical Plant scheduled emergency electrical outage scheduled for LANG Hall on Tuesday, August 11th, from 8:00 AM until noon, we wanted to announce the "potential" for a UNI voice telecommunications system outage during that time, which would impact the following buildings:
LANG
ITTC
Physics
Bartlett

On Wednesday morning August 12 between 6-7AM, new radius servers will be added to the wireless authentication server pool. Depending on your wireless settings and group policy you may be prompted to approve new certificates. The names of new radius servers are kickback.its-ns.uni.edu and roadblock.its-ns.uni.edu. Please double check your group policy to allow these radius servers.

To address performance issues, tonight at 11PM, we will be restarting the OAS that hosts the Access java applications. This normally happens daily at 5:05AM.

The eLearning system will be shutdown beginning at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 for application server maintenance. Maintenance will be completed and service restored by 7:00 AM.

MyUNIverse will be unavailable beginning at 3 AM on Monday, September 7, 2009 due to scheduled system maintenance. Maintenance is expected to be complete by 5 AM.
