March 30, 2006Library Courtesy Notices
The library will begin e-mailing courtesy notices to patrons a few days before their material becomes due, reminding them when the material must be returned or renewed. Courtesy notices will only be sent for material with a checkout period of one week or longer. Reserve books, study rooms, periodicals and youth books will not generate courtesy notices.

March 9, 2006Art & Music Collection Moving to Fourth Floor
In order to provide the best possible library service to the UNI community, certain library collections will be moving to new locations within Rod Library. Sometime in the near future, the Art & Music Collection will begin a move of its materials and services from its current location on the 3rd floor to a new location on the 4th floor of the library. After the A&M Collection has been moved out of its current location, Special Collections and University Archives will expand into much of the space vacated by Art & Music.
Music and art materials that have been housed in the Glass Case Collection in A&M will be moved permanently to shelving in Special Collections and University Archives. Current periodicals for art and music will be moved from their current location in A&M and will be incorporated into the Current Periodicals Collection on the 1st floor of the library. Other A&M materials, such as the art slide collection, reference books, sound recordings, and videos will be moved to the 4th floor as the project progresses. It is anticipated that temporary listening and viewing facilities will be made available on the 4th floor. The physical arrangement of A&M materials on the 4th floor will be temporary until such time as permanent enlargements and improvements can be made to the space after the library acquires 4th floor office space currently being occupied by displaced Gilchrist employees.
The members of the A&M Collection staff will relocate their work spaces to the 4th floor as well and will strive to make the transition from the 3rd floor to the 4th floor as convenient as possible for all library patrons.
