March 28, 2007Warm Temperature in the Library
The temperature of the building has been warm due to the change in seasons. The campus Physical Plant personnel must change each building's systems from heating to cooling every spring and then back to heating every fall. Changing from heating to cooling or vice versa is a complex process which involves more than simply flipping a switch. These changes cannot happen overnight. When we experience unseasonably warm temperatures in early spring, before we have been switched to cooling, our building becomes warmer. You will find a similar situation in buildings all across campus. We apologize, however there is little we can do about the situation. All buildings should be switched to cooling within the near future.
