Panther Prowler Enhancements

The software that runs Panther Prowler was upgraded on January 21. This upgrade includes significant enhancements to the user interface. First, the upgraded interface was developed to comply with leading accessibility standards. Second, the search syntax was changed to function more like leading web-based search tools such as Google. For example, users should now enter multiple word searches in quotes to retrieve exact phrases (for example, "gun control"). And third, search results now include "clusters and facets" on the right side of the screen. These provide an easy way to see the most frequently occurring topics, authors, journal titles, years of publication, and so on.

Panther Prowler Upgrade

On Monday morning, January 21, the software that runs Panther Prowler will be upgraded. Consequently, metasearching will be unavailable during that time. The upgrade should be complete and metasearching should be restored by early afternoon.

It will still be possible to bring up the local user interface and to select individual databases from the Databases A-Z list for searching at vendors' sites. This is accomplished by clicking on the names of the databases.

Please contact the library via the Ask Us! page if you have questions.

Help us Evaluate Our Web Site

Rod Library is evaluating how easy or difficult it is for students to find books and journal articles from our Web site. We need student input!

We are looking for a few students who would be willing to sit down with us for 45-50 minutes and give us some feedback on our site.

If you would be willing to help, please fill out a volunteer form and we will contact you soon.

Students who work with us for the 45-50 minutes will receive a UNI glass as a thank you.

Please contact Susan Basye (273-3638) if you have any questions.

Thank you!
