April Already!?
Sorry for the long wait, it seems like March flew right past me! Lets see, spring break was a breath of fresh air from classes, and I went to see Wicked in Chicago! Rugby is in full swing again with our first two games as wins this past weekend... w00t! I had an unfortunate incident with parking tickets, and I'm not really sure where all my money is going so fast after I make it!

Warm Weather Dreamin'
Getting winter blues? Me too! I'm tired of Iowa winter that teases us with warm days and then hits us with 5 inches of snow like we got last night. What's a girl to do?... Dream of Spring in
Spain.

Christmas Break and a New Semester!
Well this is long one for you.... My break wasn't all that amazing, and in fact was quite boring beyond belief! I never thought I would get home sick for UNI, but that is how I would describe it. Now this semester with 17 credit hours, rugby, and now a job, I hope that I can keep it balanced and still spend time with my friends. Hopefully this semester will go as quickly as the last did because I'm getting excited about my plans for next year already!

Finals and Snow!!!
The past week brought the first snow, the excitement of only a week left until I go home, and all the stress of finals and last minute homework thrown on by teachers. What is the best way to help the stress? Well by running a 5k in this wonderful weather of course!!! I also got to play tour guide and host a couple of friends from home who came on a college visit.

Thanksgiving and My First Black Friday!!!
Thanksgiving was a good break from classes and early mornings, that is, of course, except for "black friday!" My first black friday experience, if only it wasn't 10 degrees outside!

Busy Times During the End of 1st Semester!
It is getting closer to the end of first semester which means it's almost Thanksgiving which means its almost Christmas break! Halloween weekend was a blast, and of course rugby is always fun for me, but that is slowing down now that we won't have games again until Spring.

Homecoming Festivities and Midterms
Sorry I missed last week, but not much happened. This past week was homecoming week, and not to mention the rugby match that determined if we were midwest champions! This week I have three midterms, but found a little time to catch up in my blog.

College Isn't That Hard...
Ok, college is hard, but after getting my first test back I am very happy! And so far I haven't had any problems balancing studying with my other activities including rugby. I still have no idea what my major will be, but I figure I have plenty of time to think.

Highlights of First Rugby Match
On Saturday the Womens Rugby Team traveled to Ames for our first matches vs. Colorado State. It was really intense, and everything we learned came together to make sense. It was so much fun except for being sore the next day and having a rugby clinic!

Rugby, Karaoke, and Tests oh My!
It was kind of a lonely week without my room mate, and classes weren’t extremely out of the ordinary. Had a blast doing karaoke with some friends, and this week will be preparing for my first rugby match!

Things Are Looking Up
As I had thought, things were much better in the past week. I went home this weekend, so seeing my family really helped. I also bought a little friend to help me through the hard times!

My Series of Unfortunate Events...
I suppose I should go on and explain my title for this blog. Well it seems I am destined to be a forgetful person that tends to get hurt. It all started on Friday morning when I went for a run and rolled my ankle!

10 Days and counting
Hi! My name is Kayla, and I’m an incoming freshman at the University of Northern Iowa. I am from Sheldon, IA (home of the Orabs!) which is located in the far northwest corner of the state. It is a small town compared to Cedar Falls so I’m excited for the change. I’m very physically active and love to hang out with friends, and I’m always up to trying something new. I like all kinds of music, movies and books. My favorite shows on tv are Sex and the City, Americas Next Top Model, and CSI. The reason I LOVE CSI is because that is exactly what I’m aspiring to do. I know that it is not the same as on tv, and my major is biotechnology to help me become a CSI lab technician. Pretty cool, huh? I think so. I’m also majoring in Spanish and hope to study in Argentina next year. Hopefully that is enough for you to get an insight to what I am like, and if you keep reading my blogs you will learn more. Around campus you will most likely find me hanging with friends, playing rugby, or doing an activity at the WRC.
