i'm really supposed to be doing my homework in this little snippet of time i have. i have a book to read (potiki) for thursday for intro to lit, and i also have a bunch of research to do for oral comm as well. college is so much work i tell ya! the greatest thing about my intro to lit class, though, is that i'm actually learning. it's fantastic. i actually feel dumb and get the feeling of, "hey, i have NO idea what i'm doing, i need to learn this." it's really intriguing to me actually, i never knew i had a "thing" for learning.
as far as other involvement, the GLBTAU meeting was fun last week. we played play-dough pictionary (i mean... who DOESN'T love making "bubblegum" out of play-dough?). i can't attend the meeting tonight because i have a presidential scholars dessert reception at president allen's tonight. i'm super excited because benjamin allen is awesome (he played bags at the honors picnic, he HAS to be cool!).
the northern iowa democrats have so much stuff going on it's crazy. right now we're really pushing for getting students to vote, which is a lot of fun. i was running around last week getting petitions signed and now i just getta do more! woo hoo! also, we're marching in the homecoming parade, which should be really fun. homecoming is only a week away... i'm so excited... (WAIT! less than a week... yikes). plus, the liberal date auction is oct 16! i'm getting pumped for that too! (so much going on, i swear).
we had a rider hall senate meeting sunday night. that went well... the rider hall toga party is TOMORROW NIGHT at 9PM! sweet sheets & phat beats! come for a good time! (we have limbo!). it should be pretty awesome.
also, pi kappa alpha is going great. we had our pledge dad ceremony this weekend, and it was an awesome time. my pledge dad is an awesome guy, and i look forward to spending more good times together. we went paintballing on sunday too, which was a crazy, painful experience, but well worth it. the guys are so much fun, and i get more and more excited about finally being initiated on nov 4! i'm also crazy busy this week due to panther pride cry practice. mon, tues, wed, and sun night practices at 9:30pm! we're paired with the alpha delta pi's, and they've won the past two years. we're pretty much gonna be awesome! (and if you don't understand panther pride cry, it's a homecoming competition that anyone can enter with a large group of people performing chants/dances in support of the panthers!)
