Mindless Ramblings of That One Guy

December 4, 2006

shock-and-awe.

really, that's all i can say right now. but wait, i have to make a whole blog entry! yikes!

so, i am majorly stressed out right now. one week left of real classes. and, i'm cramming for everything. i'm worried. sort of? idk. i have so much to... do. i'm losing my mind.

anyways, i haven't updated since the 20th... so what's new?

oh yes, of course. my quote at the top of the uni page! i keep hearing all about it, people are finally starting to see these blogs. i think it's awesome and quite hilarious. if i had a penny for every person that said... "who doesn't love making bubblegum out of playdough..." jeez! lol.

thanksgiving break was fun. didn't get what i wanted to get done, but i got a break! that was good. i worked a lot. and, it was so weird. everyone was gone. the dorms were empty. talk about creepy. but! i got to see friends from high school that i haven't seen in awhile, and plus, john wayne night at the pike house!

warning! this entry contains a larger than life amount of photos! :). (hey, i've had a lot of fun since the last time i posted!).

amanda and i at her place... sometime during thanksgiving break.

aditi, one of my good friends from high school who goes to iowa, came to the pike house to see me on john wayne night! (hence, the cowboy hat).

me and my cousin lauren who lives in colorado. she showed up for thanksgiving. :).

but after thanksgiving break, it's all been going so fast. i think i need... a brake (no, not "break," a BRAKE so i can just... stop for just a second!).

i've been cramming in my requirements for my music major--meaning going to 8 music department recitals for the semester. that's been fun. my friend sarah duvel had an awesome recital a week ago, and the opera scenes recital was definitely worth the two hour long show :). also, the men's glee club concert was this weekend. as always, it was very impressive. i wish that i had time to be in it, but oh well, i enjoy seeing their performances! gina and i went together, and she had never been before, so that was cool. it was cool actually knowing a lot of the people in it because in high school i never really knew anyone.

gina and i in front of a christmas tree in the gallagher lobby.

in other recents news, uni beat isu in basketball last week. that was pretty awesome. taking out mcdermott after leaving us. 70-57. haha isu, you got owned. i was ticked i didn't get to go to the game though, i had to settle for watching it on tv at the pike house. shucks.

let's see... what else? last tuesday was the glbtau end of year holiday bash party! that was fun, unfortunately, i forgot my camera and have no pictures. bummer. we had a gift exchange at our advisors house. the evening was filled with flashbacks to the 90's... including lite brites, polaroid cameras, easy bake ovens, and ninja turtles. too much fun. :).

papers and juries. papers and juries. papers and juries. i have to remember those things. i still have that 15 page paper to start. i'm pretty much done with oral comm (yes!!!), but... my big focus right now is on memorizing my music for juries this weekend!!! i wish i had more time in my life...

how could i forget registering for classes?! pain in the butt. i didn't get into everything i wanted to (dang). but, i'm taking like... 18 hours of classes. working on three majors! music, poly comm, and french. we'll see what happens i guess... i can't wait until next year... when i get to register EARLIER... and maybe have a chance of not being angry at the process. it's like dr. atkinson says, "registering for classes is like the lottery, you never know what's gonna happen."

all right, the biggest event of my blog shall be the last. pike winter extravaganza was this past weekend, and it was freakin awesome. we went to the wisconsin dells and stayed at the kalahari resort... with the largest indoor waterpark in the nation! we got to stay in really sweet suites (i really wanted to say that). it was a lot of fun, and i'm glad that i went. getting away for a weekend with all my buddies is something i wish could happen every week haha.

abbi (my date) and me sleeping on the way to wisconsin. we pretty much slept both ways... there and back. i love sleeping.

dan posing with the $40 ice box. the weird thing about this hotel is that they had a price list of EVERYTHING in the room. and everything was incredibly overpriced. (the shower curtain was $135? i find that hard to believe...).

chase posing with the $75 "netting" above the bed. i'm really not sure what purpose it actually served... but it was great for taking pictures!

all right! abbi and me again, finally dressed up and ready to go after a quick dip in the waterpark! this was taken right before we went to dinner... which was really good.

chris, kristen, and myself during dinner.

after dinner, amanda and i decided to take the leftover food back to the rooms for snacks! so, i filled up jess' purse with rolls...

kyle and me, post dinner.

brandon, me, gina, and jess out in the hallway with a big RUSH PIKES sign!

and that's all for the winter extravaganza! i don't really know what else to say about it except that for my first time to the dells, i had a great time. plus, we got PiKA winter extravaganza flip flops as souvenirs. that was a cool idea.

lastly, i've had a crazy day. i was practicing my music like crazy this morning for my lesson at 10. i think i've almost got all my pieces down. then from 3 to 5 i had class. from 5 to 7 i had officer transitions retreat for the interfraternal council with the panhellenic council. i'm not sure i've explained this before, but ifc & panhel are the governing bodies of all the fraternities and sororities on campus. i was elected director of community advancement for ifc and really looking forward to doing that next semester. i stopped by the northern iowa dems meeting from 7 to 7:20 until i had to leave for rehearsal for the chimes of christmas concert this week from 7:30 to like... 8:45ish. basically, i'm tired and have a bunch more to do tonight.

lastly, i'll close with a few random pictures. talk to you all hopefully before or DURING finals week! (if i survive...)

kim, me, and kelly at the pike house.

gina, myself, and kaas posing in front of the pi kappa alpha founding fathers haha.

and last but not least, me and addy, one of my high school teacher's daughters. i got to see her a little while ago, which was cool cause i haven't seen her in quite awhile...

ALL RIGHT! I'M DONE! :D.
