Mindless Ramblings of That One Guy

July 9, 2007

ahhh... panera bread.

so... i feel as though i am fully living the experience of a poor college student right now. i just got done searching through all of campus finding a computer lab that was open in the summer time, but failed. sure, there were a few computers scattered here and there, but they were always full. darn.

i just moved into the pike house, and the problem is that i haven't figured out how to get wireless to work there yet. i'm gonna have to work my magic somehow because i'm addicted to the internet. ah well, it might take some time, but i'll get it done.

so here i am, in panera bread. because i have no money but felt compelled to give them something for sitting in here and using their wireless, i bought a jones cream soda. tasty things, jones sodas.

i'm starting back at hy-vee on friday, but i'm really thinking about getting a job somewhere else, especially during the school year. i really want to work on campus because i think it'd be a lot easier getting to work, and i feel as though if i worked for uni, i'd have bosses that would be more sensitive to my hectic schedule. i guess i'll hit up the uni job board... hopefully i'll find something!

orientation's all done and over with, kinda sad. i miss my coworkers, and i miss seeing freshmen everyday. what a bummer. since i don't work until friday though, i think i'm actually gonna get some stuff done. and by stuff, i mean gain some intellectual knowledge and read for a change. i need to study my french for the fall, but i also went shopping yesterday and picked up the book pledged. it's about a journalist who goes undercover as a college student and discovers sorority life at the school she's at. it's really interesting because she created the book as an aid to women in sororities. she points out flaws in a number of greek systems acdross the nation and notes that they need to be fixed to create a more open and inclusive community. very interesting. i found it in the women's studies section of barnes & noble.

anyways, i think i'm gonna sit around and have some kind of movie marathon tonight. maybe take out the snakes that are currently living in the pike house (don't worry, they're not wild). gotta love summer!
