Well its being a terrible 2 weeks as the temperature fluctuates from -15 F to +30 F. Here is this weeks forecast -
Last weekend was awesome to look at from inside but definitely not to go outside and drive. At first we had freezing rain and then it snowed for about 6 hours. That was not it, there was snow blowing all over and we had winds up too 20 mph

Black Friday or Thanx Giving !!!!
Thanx giving week is one of my favorite holidays. I should say that this thanx giving was a bit different, this year my host family were the hosts for the lunch. I had the privilege to curve the turkey this year, which I think was an exciting thing to do as the turkey was 25 pounds.

Indian Dance and the rest of week…
UNI recently hosted the Shakti Dance Company which is a very well known dance company. The performance consisted of intense physical and superbly coordinated footwork from South India’s Bharat Natyam dance tradition, to the deeply luminous technique of Odissi that was performed by temple dancers in Eastern India.......

Chicago, Career Fair, homecoming….
There has been a lot going on both inside and outside school. My childhood buddy from New York is here for homecoming. He is enjoying his time off from work and being back in a college environment.
I attended the career fair at UNI which, in my opinion, is a must for every student. It gives great insight into the career opportunities available for students. As a matter of fact, it helped me get my first internship. Students must dress very formally and make a professional appearance to their prospective employers.

Canoeing on a chilly sunday afternoon
I recently joined the International Club of Business Students (ICBS)at UNI. I always wanted to be a part of this club but never got around to doing it until I had a class with Chris, who is the faculty advisor for this club. Chris is also my Operations professor in the school of business and her class is one of the most interesting ones I ever had up to date

Summer Fun
My summer started off with a bang! I was taking classes over the summer, catching up on work and going through the mundane task of filing the paperwork for my internship. The first two weeks passed really fast. Taking a class in the summer was something I never thought I would do. Classes and work is keeping me very busy. I have being working at NISG and ISO which from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. After 4 pm, I play volleyball and basketball while basking in the Iowa sunshine. The weather is being a bit fickle these days. It is too cold and windy for summer.

Spring Break….Destination:Miami
Spring break 2007 is one break that I will never forget. My buddies and I drove to Miami, Orlando, West Palm and Key West. We started our trip by first stopping at Orlando at my cousin’s place. As we drove south to Florida the temperature kept increasing and we enjoyed every bit of sunshine we could get. We traveled through Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia but the best drive I liked was through Tennessee. The roads in Tennessee are awesome and the whole drive was very scenic. We left Iowa on Friday at 8:00 pm and we reached Orlando at 6:00 pm Saturday

Student Body leadership
After spending a funfilled weekend with Andrew Morse and Adam Bentley, I spoke to them about the forthcoming student body President/Vice-President elections, I’d like to say their campaign issues are well sought out and show a greater power for service to students. Remember to vote on February 27th and 28th on MyUNIverse! . If you need more information on their platform for their campaign go to –

Chicago-Paris-Bangalore
I don't think flying for 23 hours is fun. Your sleep schedule gets so messed up with all this traveling. When I got to Paris on the 17th of December it was great, it was chilly winter evening but I didn't care for the cold because I was in one of the greatest cities of the world.

Vacation Time...
I just got done with finals and I did really well on all my finals. All the nights without sleep paid off at last. It was a pretty stressful week and weekend, there were so many things going on. There were people leaving and some of whom I will not see for a really long time and some I wouldn’t see forever. I would definitely miss my friends who came here for a semester on a exchange program. My friends from Austria would definitely be missed a lot for all their crazy things they come up with. They are a bunch of crazy friends to hang out with and will never make your day boring; it's like everyday is another day to have fun. I'm leaving to India on Saturday and will not be back until school starts so I m going to have a long vacation. I'm flying through Paris and will be mostly meeting my friends from France. I'm so excited to go back home and meet my parents and my friends. I have a surprise which I shall let you guys know once I get back home.

Farming in Iowa
This was one of a kind experience I had in Iowa after being here for 2 years. Farming is completely different in India compared to Iowa. There an average farmer has probably 10 to 20 acres or less, here it s from 100 to 400 acres. This farm I went to was my friend Joe’s, it is probably around 300 acres and yeah that’s big numbers for a guy like me.

My week of “FUN”

Homecoming
Homecoming is a university tradition in the United States. I didn't know
what homecoming was until my boss told me about it and I did a bit of
research about it. It is a tradition where all the alums come back to
campus and it's a big bash for the weekend. If you would like to know
more about homecoming and how it came about at University of Northern
Iowa check out this link, its very interesting-

Well what can I say about myself?
Name: Sundeep Kasturi Purushotham (Very Long last name)
Place of Birth: Bangalore, India.
Major: Supply Chain and Operations Management
Let me start by telling what my name is all about. Sundeep is a popular Indian name, derived from the epic Mahabharatha. It is primarily used by men and women from Hindu or Sikh backgrounds. There are a number of interpretations, but in the Sikh tradition it means light of the sun (sun + light), and it perhaps means "a lighted lamp" or "enlightened" in Sanskrit. That's about my name and about myself, I am an international student at the University of Northern Iowa and I work at the international service office with Ross Schupback who is the international student advisor. I also work with Kristi Marchesani who is one of the main reasons for me to choose UNI.
I met Kristi at an education fair back home called the Linden tour, in which several universities take part. I checked out several other universities but UNI's purple and gold got my attention better than any other university at the education fair. When I came to UNI during my first semester I took classes down at Hawkeye Community College, which was a fun trip everyday and enjoyed going to classes down there. The classes are small and helped me transition to the US educational curriculum in a very smooth way. Now this is my second year at UNI and I like every bit of time I have spent here. When people ask me what you like about UNI? I always tell them it's the people and that's what you miss when you are not at UNI. The students, staff and everyone on campus are so friendly and UNI is my second home now.
