Chicago, Career Fair, homecoming….

There has been a lot going on both inside and outside school. My childhood buddy from New York is here for homecoming. He is enjoying his time off from work and being back in a college environment.

I attended the career fair at UNI which, in my opinion, is a must for every student. It gives great insight into the career opportunities available for students. As a matter of fact, it helped me get my first internship. Students must dress very formally and make a professional appearance to their prospective employers.

As the fall semester progresses my life only gets busier. I am part of three student organizations: The International Club of Business Students- ICBS; Supply Chain Management Club- SCM and the International Student Association – ISA. Apart from my very active involvement in student organizations, I also work for Northern Iowa Student Government (NISG) as the office manager/Recording Secretary/Senator and the International Service Office (ISO). All my extra curricular activities combined with my 16 credits of course work keeps me really busy. Oh yeah! I almost forgot, to add to all this, I am part of the team that is representing UNI at the MIMC 2008 competition in Manitoba, Canada. This is a very interesting competition. A group of 6 of us are performing a market simulation for a make believe company. This competion requires a 4 hour commitment from my side every week.

I recently visited Chicago as part of a trip organized by the ISO. It gave me the opportunity to visit my favorite Bar on the 96th floor of the John Hancock building in downtown Chicago. The weather (83 F) was awesome as were the people. I have never seen Chicago with such perfect weather in the fall.

I am excitedly looking forward to Homecoming this year. The UNI football team is 5-0 in the conference and the dome is expected to be packed with 16000 people.
