Hi Everybody,
I went to UNI from 1989-1993. My younger sister, Kara Luett, follow me and graduated from UNI in 2000. After she graduated and while she was still in Cedar Falls, she was diagnosed with leukemia. Unfortunately, she could not beat the disease and died in September of 2004. In her memory I am participating in Team in Training and plan on running in the San Diego Rock'N'Roll Marathon on June 1st. To do this I need to raise 3,900 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. If you have been effected by cancer or know someone that has, you know how a important it is that research continues working towards a cure. To donate or view my progress go to http://www.active.com/donate/tntia/tntiaMRickor
Thanks so much!!!

Just read the current UNI Today and was sorry to hear of Andria Meeks Erzberger's passing. Condolences to her family. We were Bartlett Hall Freshmen together. Also congrats to Russel Wiley on his retirement from the chem. department. Russell took me to a winter formal when we were both freshmen, and he managed to twirl me away, only to miss my hand so that I wound up crashing against one of the radiators in the old Commons. Ah, the good old days. I retired after 35 years teaching art and English in Woodlake, Ca where I still live in the house where my first husband (chemistry teacher in Woodlake) and I brought up our two girls. I was widowed for 12 years before meeting Roy Saffon, but I lost him to cancer two years ago. I've been doing some traveling, but I'd love to hear from old friends. Kay Morse-Justad-Saffon B.A. 63

Hi...I went to UNI from 1986-1990. (I also went to Cedar Falls High before that, '86.)I lived in Dancer, then Noehren Hall. I worked at whatever the dining center was (I forgot!!)by Noehren and Shull decorating donuts. I had a lot of fun during school, but I moved to Houston in 1990 to teach and lost track of most of my old buddies. (I guess we are getting old, too!)One of my co-teachers moved here from Iowa, and also attended UNI sometime during the '90's, and we were chatting about our visits to the Hill, the other day. It made me miss the good ol' days. I've lived in Texas for 17 years, so I obviously can't handle the cold weather (cold is 50 above, now.) I wonder how I survived those frigid walks around campus...I look forward to hearing from anyone who is familiar with that era or Waterloo/CF.

Ok - we can call off the search . . . I found Andy Levitt. Andy and I are now looking for another mid 80's 3rd floor Dancer Hall friend - Ken Hartmann. Ken is from Cedar Rapids - a business major who spent a lot of time in the weight room. Haven't had any contact with him for about 20 years. On a similar note - I had a great time seeing and talking to several dorm buddies last month - Jim Bradrick, Scott Sawlis, Eric Stromer, Lynell Waters, Keith Welch, and Steve Swenson. Attended UNI fall of '80 to spring of '82. Limped along academically for a couple years. Blew off a lot of classes. Underachieved in the classroom. Overachieved on the hill. They tell me I had a blast! Lived at 910 Dancer, right next to the 'vators. (Keep the noise down for God's sake! Can't you see I'm sleeping one off and it's only 3:00 p.m.?) Partied a lot down on the 3rd floor as well. Still not sure whether I should laugh about my behavior back then, or be embarrassed by it. Probably a little of each. Does anyone know anyone who might know anyone that lived on the 9th floor at the same time? I roomed with James "Fuzz" Drew from Osage my first year, and Jeff Norem from Clear Lake my second. Loved all the concerts the 'Dome had back then. The Cars, REO, and of course, the Stones in '81. (Partied HARD over in Rider at Boies house after that one. Ouch!) Drop a line if ya' have a free minute. All the best to everyone.

Professor Herb Meinert died March 4, 2006. I know little of the circumstances other than after being ill for several months, he died peacefully at his home in Brooklyn. Hearing of Herb's death brought back a flood of fond memories. To me, Herb was more than a teacher. An “old school” broadcaster from “the Big Apple,” on the prairies of Iowa and Nebraska he stuck out like a petticoat on a pig. A nuts and bolts “theater of the mind” radioman, Herb cut his teeth at a time when broadcasters of his ilk had to decide—radio or TV? He made the jump to TV. He was creative, smart, well read and a risk-taker. Herb had a flair for writing for the ear and although he never called attention to it, was a gifted storyteller. It wasn't until many years later that I realized Herb was different, period. He was in it for the long haul. He wanted to change lives. And at least in my case, he succeeded. Herb will be deeply missed by those of us he so profoundly touched and remembered by just as many as a true friend. Fare thee well, Mr. Meinert...and thanks. We’ll never forget you.

I am doing interviews during Spring Break (March 11-19) and would be interested in anyone who attended UNI in the past and would have some good stories to tell. I am a 64 Grad, and happy to see a message from someone who was in school when I was. I, too, was at that Mineral Water Bowl, and I remember how excited and proud we were. But I was also in Chattanooga, and there has never been any atmosphere like it! Olliexgolly, I have sent 3 messages to you from the address here, but they have all come back. There must be something wrong with the address.

Greetings from a ’63 grad. Was truly enjoyable to return for the reunion of the Fabulous 1500 former Stadium Hall inhabitants. Thanks again to all the people who made it happen. Congratulations to the Panther football teams for their accomplishments this season. Some would say it tops the 1960 Mineral Water Bowl that we went to. We were just as proud of the team then!

Hi! I just found this website and was hoping that if I mentioned a couple of names, someone would recognize them and let me know how to get in touch with some of them. It's too bad that it's taken me so long to try to reach these people. They made my college years so much fun. If any of you are out there, I would love to hear from you. Eddie Johnson, Jared Teer, Angie Shroeder, Kim Steffen (the craziest roommate I've ever had-Shull 1998), Nino Rabano, Adam Haas, Marius Boyd(basketball team 1998), Shiloh Dean, Bryant Duffy, Katie Evans(curly Katie), Tiffany Erickson, Amanda Howard, Tera Swift, Melanie DeArmond, Titus Ivory (my broter), Richard Carter, Josh Lichty, Janelda Dudly(hi Zion), Astor Williams, and Rachelle Barbee. I hope to hear f rom some of you soon.
